Method
Beef sliders
Form patties
Place the ground beef in a bowl. Add 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp black pepper, 1/2 tsp garlic powder and 1/2 tsp onion powder. Gently mix with your fingers until just combined—do not overwork. Divide the meat into 12 equal portions (about 1.3 oz / 37 g each) and form into small thin patties slightly larger than the buns (they will shrink while cooking).
Cook patties
Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and add 1 tbsp vegetable oil. When the oil shimmers, add patties in a single layer without crowding (cook in batches if needed). Cook 2-3 minutes on the first side until well-browned, flip and immediately place a halved American cheese slice on each patty. Cook 1-2 more minutes until cheese melts and internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Remove to a plate and keep warm.
Buns & assembly
Toast buns
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly brush the cut sides of the 12 slider buns with the softened butter. Arrange buns cut-side up on a baking sheet and toast in the oven 4-6 minutes until golden and slightly crisp. Alternatively, toast in the skillet used for the patties for 1-2 minutes.
Assemble sliders
Spread ketchup and a little mustard on the bottom halves of the buns. Place a lettuce leaf or a small handful of shredded lettuce on each bottom bun, add a cheeseburger patty, top with a pickle slice and a thin ring of red onion. Place the top bun and press gently. Repeat for all sliders. Keep warm in the oven on low if necessary.
Fries
Cook frozen French fries according to package directions until golden and crisp (bake at package temperature or air-fry at 400°F / 200°C for 12-18 minutes, shaking halfway). After cooking, season with 1/2 tsp salt and toss lightly. Serve immediately.
Baby carrots & ranch
Place 2 cups baby carrots in a small bowl or serving dish. Pour 3/4 cup ranch dressing into a ramekin for dipping and sprinkle 1 tsp chopped parsley over the carrots and dressing if using. Serve chilled or at room temperature alongside the sliders and fries.
