Base spirits (rail / well)

Method

1

Fill a highball glass (10–12 oz) with cubed ice approximately three-quarters full.

2

Measure and add each rail spirit (vodka, bourbon, whiskey, tequila, gin, light rum, scotch) — 1 oz of each — into the glass over the ice. Total spirit volume will be 7 oz.

3

Add 2 oz citrus sour (or sweet & sour mix) to balance the spirits.

4

Top with 3 oz cola to add sweetness and length. If you prefer a lighter, less sweet drink, substitute 1 oz club soda plus 2 oz cola, or use 1 oz club soda only for a drier pour.

5

If the sour mix is not sweet enough, add 0.25 oz simple syrup and stir once to combine. For a stirred, slightly more aromatic version, add 2 dashes Angostura bitters and stir gently.

6

Gently stir with a bar spoon 6–8 full revolutions to integrate — do not over-stir to avoid diluting too much.

7

Garnish with a lemon wedge or wheel on the rim and an optional maraschino cherry dropped in the glass.

8

Serve with a straw and napkin. Advise drinkers this is a strong mixed cocktail (seven ounces of spirits) best for sharing or sipping slowly.

Alternative: Short stirred Rail (rocks)

9

If you prefer a short, stirred version: combine 0.5 oz of four chosen rail spirits (pick any four) in a mixing glass with 1 oz citrus sour (or 0.5 oz fresh lemon + 0.5 oz simple syrup), add 2 dashes Angostura bitters, fill with ice, and stir 20–30 seconds until chilled.

10

Strain over a large ice cube into an old-fashioned glass and garnish with a lemon twist or cherry.
