Check bottle temperature. Cave de Lugny La Côte Blanche is best served lightly chilled, about 8–10°C (46–50°F). If the bottle is at room temperature, chill in the refrigerator for 1.5–2 hours or place in an ice bucket with equal parts ice and water for 15–20 minutes.

If using the ice-chill method, remove the bottle from the ice bucket and dry with a towel before opening so water won’t drip into the glassware.

Optional quick chill: wrap the bottle in a damp towel and place in the freezer for 10–12 minutes. Do not forget it—wine can freeze.

Use a waiter's corkscrew or a wine key. Cut and remove the foil, wipe the top of the bottle with a clean towel, and insert the screw centered in the cork. Pull the cork out smoothly.

Smell a small pour first (30–50 ml) to check for any off aromas. Cave de Lugny La Côte Blanche is an unoaked Chardonnay that typically shows citrus, green apple, pear, and floral notes.

Pour wine into chilled white wine glasses. Standard pour is about 120–150 ml per glass. For a tasting pour offer 60–90 ml. Fill no more than one-third to half of the glass to allow aromas to develop.

If you prefer, rinse glasses briefly with a small amount of filtered water and dry to remove dust—this is optional and for presentation only.

Garnish: place a thin slice of lemon or green apple on the rim or on the serving board for a bright visual cue, but do not place fruit in the wine.

Arrange the fresh goat cheese or soft chèvre on a small serving plate. Spoon 2 tbs of honey into a small ramekin. Place the toasted baguette slices or crackers nearby. Sprinkle chopped fresh herbs over the cheese if using.

Cheese & Breads

If serving prosciutto or smoked salmon, fan the slices on the board so guests can take portions easily. Place walnuts or toasted almonds in a small bowl on the board.

Charcuterie/Seafood Option

Core and thinly slice the green apple and arrange alongside the cheese and crackers. Scatter the walnuts or almonds around the board for textural contrast.

Fruit & Nuts

Serve the plate alongside the poured wine, allowing guests to taste how the unoaked Chardonnay pairs with citrus, apple, creamy cheese, and light salt-cured meats or smoked fish.

When tasting, note the wine’s acidity, fruit profile (green apple, pear, citrus), and mineral or floral hints typical of Mâcon-Villages. Because it is unoaked, expect a clean, fresh palate without vanilla or oak spice.

If there is leftover wine, reseal with the original cork (inserted with the clean side facing into the bottle) or a vacuum stopper and refrigerate. Consume within 2–4 days for best freshness.

Do not leave opened white wine at room temperature for extended periods—chill again before serving any remaining pours.
