Method

Prepare Glass and Flavorings

1

Chill glass

Place serving glass in the refrigerator or freezer for 5–10 minutes, or fill with ice to chill while you prepare flavorings.

2

Muddle (optional)

If using mint, cucumber or berries, add them to a sturdy glass or shaker and gently muddle 4–6 times to release aroma and light juices. Do not over-muddle mint (will become bitter). If not using muddled ingredients, skip this step.

3

If using lemon or lime juice and simple syrup, combine them in a small measuring cup or jigger so they’re ready to add to the glass.

Assemble Bubbly Water

4

Add ice

Discard chilling ice if used to chill the glass and add fresh ice cubes (about 1 cup) to the serving glass.

5

Add concentrated flavor (optional)

Pour the prepared lemon or lime juice (1 tablespoon) and simple syrup (1 teaspoon) over the ice. If you muddled mint/cucumber/berries in the serving glass, the concentrated flavor is already present—adjust the added juice/syrup to taste.

6

Top with carbonated water

Slowly pour 4 cups of chilled carbonated water into the glass over the back of a spoon or down the side to preserve bubbles. Pour gently to minimize fizz overflow.

7

Stir gently

Use a long spoon or stirrer to gently stir once or twice to combine flavorings with the carbonated water. Avoid vigorous stirring to keep carbonation.

Garnish and Serve

8

Garnish the rim or float a lemon/lime wheel and add a sprig of fresh mint or a cucumber slice. Add a few whole berries if using.

9

Serve immediately while cold and bubbly. Taste and adjust: add more simple syrup if you prefer sweeter, or a squeeze more citrus for brightness.
