Method

Preparation of Guaraná Base

  1. 1

    Prepare Guaraná Berries

If using fresh guaraná berries, rinse them under cold water to remove any impurities. If using dried berries, soak them in warm water for about 30 minutes to soften.

  2. 2

    Make Guaraná Infusion

In a pot, combine the prepared guaraná berries with 4 cups of water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat and let it simmer for 20 minutes. Stir occasionally.

  3. 3

    Strain the Mixture

After simmering, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a large bowl or pitcher, discarding the solids. You should have a fragrant liquid.

  4. 4

    Sweeten the Base

Return the liquid to the pot, add 1 cup of sugar, and heat gently until the sugar is fully dissolved. Allow it to cool.

  5. 5

    Add Lime Juice

Once cooled, stir in 2 tablespoons of lime juice to enhance the flavor.

Finishing Touches

  1. 6

    Combine with Club Soda

In a serving glass, mix 1 part guaraná base with 1 part club soda for a refreshing effervescent drink.

  2. 7

    Garnish (Optional)

For added flavor, garnish with fresh mint leaves and a sprinkle of lemon zest if desired.
