Prepare the Fruit
1. Wash all fruits thoroughly. Slice the orange and lemon into thin rounds. Dice the apple into small cubes. Hull and halve any strawberries or use whole raspberries/blueberries.
Mix the Sangria
2. In a large pitcher, combine the wine, brandy, and orange juice. Stir in the optional sweetener if using.
3. Add the prepared fruit to the pitcher and stir gently to combine. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to let the flavors meld.
Serve
4. Just before serving, add ice cubes and sparkling water or club soda to the sangria. Stir gently.
5. Pour into glasses, making sure to include some fruit pieces in each serving. Garnish with fresh mint if desired.
