Method

Pasta & Main Components

1

Choose pasta

Select one pasta for the kid's meal: spaghetti, penne, or gnocchi. Quantities listed are single small kid portions (2–3 oz). If using spaghetti, break in half if needed to fit the pot.

2

Boil water

Bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil in a medium saucepan. Add 1 tsp table salt once boiling.

3

Cook dry pasta

For spaghetti or penne: add 2 oz pasta to boiling water and cook until al dente — about 8–10 minutes for spaghetti, 9–11 minutes for penne. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. For gnocchi: add 3 oz store-bought gnocchi to simmering water and cook until they float, about 2–3 minutes. Reserve 1–2 tablespoons of pasta cooking water before draining.

4

Drain and finish

Drain pasta or gnocchi in a colander. Return to the pot off the heat. Add 1 tsp unsalted butter and 1 tsp olive oil; toss gently to coat and prevent sticking. If the pasta seems dry, add 1 tablespoon of reserved pasta water.

Sauce & Seasoning

5

Heat sauce

Choose marinara or alfredo. Warm 1/4 cup of the chosen sauce in a small saucepan over low heat for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until heated through. Do not boil, especially for alfredo to prevent separating.

6

Combine pasta and sauce

Pour the warmed sauce over the coated pasta in the pot. Gently toss with a spoon or tongs until pasta is evenly coated. If needed, loosen the sauce with up to 1 tablespoon reserved pasta water to reach a kid-friendly consistency.

7

Season

Stir in 1 tablespoon grated parmesan into the sauced pasta for extra flavor. Add a pinch of black pepper if desired.

Garnish, Serve & Toy

8

Plate

Transfer the sauced pasta to a small kid-sized bowl or plate. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley and a light dusting of extra parmesan on top if desired.

9

Add toy

Include one small packaged plastic toy on the side or in the takeout box. Confirm toy is sealed and food-safe packaging is intact. Do not place the loose toy directly in contact with food.

10

Serve warm

Serve immediately while warm. Estimated portion size is one kid's serving. Ensure temperature is child-safe before giving to a child.
