Method

Prep

1

Chill mug

Place a copper mug (or highball glass) in the freezer for 5–10 minutes, or fill with ice while preparing ingredients to chill.

2

Measure vodka and lime juice. Slice one lime into a thin wheel for the slice garnish and cut an extra wedge if desired.

Build & Finish

3

Muddle mint

Place 4–6 fresh mint leaves in the bottom of the chilled mug. Gently slap the mint between your palms first to release oils, then lightly muddle the leaves with the back of a spoon or a muddler 2–3 times—just enough to bruise, not shred, the leaves.

4

Add spirits and ice

Add 2 oz vodka and 0.5 oz fresh lime juice to the mug. Fill the mug with approximately 1 cup crushed or cubed ice, leaving room at the top for ginger beer.

5

Top with ginger beer

Slowly pour 4 oz ginger beer over the ice to preserve carbonation. Stir gently once with a bar spoon to combine vodka, lime and ginger beer without flattening the soda.

6

Garnish

Nestle the thin lime slice against the rim and add a mint sprig. Optionally run the lime wedge around the mug rim before placing the slice for extra aroma.

7

Serve immediately with a straw or short stirrer so the drink stays fizzy and cold.
