Mimosa (per pitcher or per serving options)
Method
Mimosa Preparation
Chill and prepare
Place the bottle of sparkling wine and the orange juice in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours so both are well chilled. If using fresh-squeezed juice, strain through a fine mesh if you prefer a clearer drink, or leave pulp for texture.
Optional fruit prep
If using berries to muddle, place 1–2 berries in the bottom of the glass and gently muddle once or twice to release a little juice and color. If using orange slices, cut thin wheels or twist the peel for garnish.
Assemble (classic ratio)
For a classic 1:1 mimosa: pour 1/2 cup (120 ml) chilled orange juice into each flute, then slowly top with 1/2 cup (120 ml) chilled sparkling wine. Pour the sparkling wine slowly down the side of the glass to preserve bubbles. Do not stir vigorously.
Assemble (pitcher or different ratio)
For a pitcher or alternative ratio, combine equal parts chilled sparkling wine and chilled orange juice in a chilled pitcher and gently stir once or twice to integrate. For a drier drink, use 2 parts sparkling wine to 1 part orange juice. Pour into glasses immediately.
Garnish and serve
Garnish each glass with an orange slice or twist on the rim or float a small berry on top. Serve immediately so the drink retains its effervescence.
Storage note
Do not store mixed mimosas for long—the carbonation will dissipate. If preparing for a gathering, keep components chilled and mix to order.
