Method
Rim & Prep
Measure and set aside all cocktail ingredients so they are ready to use.
Make Blueberry Syrup (if not pre-made)
Optional: To make quick blueberry syrup, combine 1/2 cup fresh blueberries, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Mash and simmer 5–7 minutes until syrupy, then strain to remove solids and cool. Use 3/4 oz per cocktail. (If using store-bought syrup, skip this step.)
Build & Shake
In a cocktail shaker, add the fresh blueberries (12 each). Muddle the blueberries firmly 8–12 times until they release juice and break down but not completely pulverized. This adds fresh blueberry flavor and a little texture.
Add the blanco tequila (2 oz), orange liqueur (1 oz), blueberry syrup (3/4 oz), sour mix (1 oz), fresh lime juice (1/2 oz), and 6 ice cubes to the shaker.
Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the exterior of the shaker is very cold and the mixture is well-chilled and slightly frothy.
Strain & Serve
Fill the prepared glass with about 1 cup of fresh ice.
Double-strain the cocktail into the glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer (to catch blueberry solids and seeds). Pour gently over the ice.
Garnish with a skewer of 6 fresh blueberries and the reserved lime wedge. Serve immediately.
