This is a great summer time 'slam a beer' beer. Very refreshing and smooth.

Place fresh raspberries, simple syrup, and lemon juice in a small bowl or jar. Muddle vigorously with a muddler or the back of a spoon until mostly smooth with a few small seeds and bits remaining (about 30–45 seconds). If you prefer a seed-free drink, briefly strain the purée through a fine mesh sieve into a small container, pressing to extract juices; discard seeds.

Make raspberry purée

Pour 1 tablespoon of the raspberry purée into a chilled 16–20 oz glass. Gently tilt the glass and slowly pour 12 fl oz of chilled pilsner or light lager down the side to preserve carbonation and avoid excessive foaming. Stir gently once with a bar spoon (1–2 slow strokes) to incorporate the purée evenly without flattening the beer.

Combine purée and beer

If desired, add 4 ice cubes to the glass before pouring beer to make a colder, more refreshing summer shandy. Note that ice will dilute the beer as it melts.

Optional shandy-style variation

Float 2–3 whole raspberries on top and tuck a lime wedge or lemon wheel on the rim. Serve immediately with a short straw or without—this beer is meant to be 'slammed' and enjoyed cold.
