Method

Cocktail

1

Prepare glass (optional)

If you want a sugared rim, rub a lime wedge around the rim of a chilled coupe or martini glass, then dip the rim into a shallow plate of sugar to coat. Chill the glass while you mix the drink.

2

Combine ingredients

Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice (about 1 cup). Add 2 oz vodka, 0.5 oz blue curaçao, 2 oz cranberry juice, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup into the shaker. If using activated charcoal for a deeper purple hue, add a very small pinch (about 0.1 tsp).

3

Shake

Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch and the mixture is well chilled and slightly aerated.

4

Strain

Strain the mixture into the prepared chilled coupe or a rocks glass filled with fresh ice, using a fine strainer if you used activated charcoal to catch any particles.

5

Add sparkle (optional)

If you want a fizzy finish, top the drink with about 1 oz sparkling water or club soda. This lightens and brightens the texture without significantly diluting the color.

6

Garnish

Garnish with an edible flower or a lime wheel on the rim. Serve immediately.
