Method
Cocktail
Chill the glass
Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes, or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to ensure the drink stays cold.
Combine ingredients
Fill a cocktail shaker about two-thirds full with ice. Add 2 fl oz vodka, 0.5 fl oz framboise (raspberry) liqueur, and 1.5 fl oz pineapple juice to the shaker.
Shake vigorously
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds, until the outside of the shaker is very cold and the mixture is well aerated. This creates a slight froth and chills the drink quickly.
Strain
Discard ice or water from the chilled glass if you used it to chill. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled martini/coupe glass using a Hawthorne strainer and, optionally, a fine-mesh strainer to remove small ice shards for a smoother texture.
Garnish
Thread one fresh raspberry onto a cocktail pick and rest it across the rim of the glass, or float 1–2 raspberries on the surface. Alternatively, use a lemon twist or small pineapple wedge on the rim for aroma and presentation.
Serve immediately while cold.
