Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Combine ingredients

Add 2 oz Old Forester Bourbon, 1 oz guava puree (or nectar), 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.5 oz orgeat, 0.25 oz vanilla syrup and 2 dashes Angostura bitters into a cocktail shaker.

  2. 2

    Dry shake (optional)

If using fresh guava puree (thicker), dry shake (shake without ice) vigorously for 8–10 seconds to help emulsify the fruit and orgeat for a silkier texture.

  3. 3

    Shake with ice

Add ice (enough to fill the shaker) and shake hard for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted.

  4. 4

    Strain

Double strain through a fine mesh strainer into a chilled rocks glass over one large ice cube or into a coupe if preferred. Double straining removes pulp and small ice shards for a clean sip while preserving texture.

Garnish & Serve

  1. 5

Express a lemon wheel over the drink to release oils, then rim the glass lightly with the peel and drop the wheel into the cocktail or rest it on the rim.

  2. 6

Optional: slap the mint sprig to release aroma and place it on the edge of the glass. Finish with a very light dusting of grated nutmeg or cinnamon over the top if desired.

  3. 7

Serve immediately. Recommend serving for 1 guest per recipe; enjoy responsibly.
