Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for at least 5 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to thoroughly chill the glass.

  2. 2

    Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz New Amsterdam Vodka, 0.75 oz lychee liqueur or lychee syrup, 0.5 oz orgeat, 0.25 oz maraschino liqueur, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, and 2 tsp orange blossom water. If you prefer a sweeter drink, add 0.25 oz simple syrup.

  3. 3

    Add ice and shake

Add about 1 cup of ice to the shaker. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch and the outside is frosted. This both dilutes and chills the cocktail to proper balance.

  4. 4

    Strain

Dump the ice water from the chilled glass if you used it. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glass using a Hawthorne and a fine mesh strainer to remove ice shards and any pulp from the lemon juice.

  5. 5

    Garnish and serve

Skewer one lychee fruit on a cocktail pick and rest it on the rim or float it in the drink. Optionally spray or mist a tiny additional drop of orange blossom water over the surface for an aromatic lift. Serve immediately.
