Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Muddle aromatics

In a cocktail shaker, add the 3 cucumber slices, 6 basil leaves (reserve one small leaf for garnish if desired), and 3 thin slices of fresh ginger. Add the ginger syrup and simple syrup. Gently muddle 6–8 times — press to release cucumber juice, basil oils, and ginger flavor but avoid pulverizing the basil into tiny pieces.

  2. 2

    Add spirits and citrus

Pour in 1.5 oz Fords Gin, 0.5 oz Finlandia Cucumber & Mint Vodka, and 0.75 oz fresh lime juice into the shaker with the muddled aromatics.

  3. 3

    Shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 4–6 large cubes), cap, and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until well-chilled and the shaker is frosty.

  4. 4

    Strain

Double-strain the cocktail into a chilled rocks glass filled with fresh crushed ice (or a few large cubes) to remove ginger fibers and basil bits. Use a fine mesh strainer over the Hawthorne strainer for a cleaner presentation.

  5. 5

    Top and garnish

Optional: top with 1 oz club soda for a lightly effervescent finish. Gently slap the reserved basil leaf between your palms to release aroma and place on top. Add a cucumber ribbon along the inside of the glass or float it on top for presentation.

  6. 6

Serve immediately with a short straw, instructing the guest to stir lightly to integrate soda if used. Enjoy.
