Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a rocks glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice and set aside to chill while you prepare the cocktail.

2

Measure and combine

Add 2 oz reposado tequila, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz orange liqueur, and 0.25 oz agave syrup into a cocktail shaker.

3

Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (enough to come about 3/4 full). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch and the outside is frosted.

4

Prepare glass and strain

Discard the chilling ice from the rocks glass if used. Add 2–3 large fresh ice cubes to the glass. Using a Hawthorne or fine strainer, double-strain the cocktail from the shaker into the prepared rocks glass to remove small ice shards and pulp.

5

Garnish

Express the oils of a fresh orange peel over the drink by holding the peel skin-side down over the glass and giving it a firm squeeze so oils spray onto the cocktail. Rub the peel around the rim if desired, then drop it into the glass as a garnish.

6

Serve

Serve immediately. Sip and enjoy the balanced flavors of reposado tequila, bright lime, and orange liqueur with a touch of agave sweetness.

Optional adjustments

7

For a slightly brighter version, increase lime juice to 1 oz and reduce tequila to 1.75 oz. For a sweeter cocktail, increase agave syrup to 0.5 oz.

8

If you prefer a longer, stirred drink, build the ingredients in a mixing glass with ice and stir for 20–30 seconds, then strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
