Chicken Marinade

Method

Marinate the Chicken

  1. 1

    Combine Marinade Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, honey, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well combined.

  2. 2

    Marinate Chicken

Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

Prepare the Breading

  1. 3

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

  2. 4

    Set Up Breading Station

Prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to place the breaded chicken pieces.

Bread the Chicken

  1. 5

    Coat Chicken in Breading

Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess liquid to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture until fully coated, shaking off any excess.

  2. 6

    Place on Baking Sheet

Transfer the breaded chicken pieces to the prepared baking sheet and let them rest for about 15 minutes.

Fry the Chicken

  1. 7

    Heat Oil

In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 8

    Fry Chicken in Batches

Carefully add the chicken pieces to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 12-14 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through.

  3. 9

    Drain Chicken

Remove the fried chicken from the oil using a slotted spoon and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serve

  1. 10

    Plate and Serve

Serve the honey-fried chicken hot, drizzled with additional honey if desired. Enjoy!
