- 1
Prepare glass
Chill a rocks glass or coupe by filling it with ice and setting it aside while you build the cocktail.
- 2
Combine ingredients
In a mixing glass, add 1 cup of ice, 2 oz Rittenhouse Rye, 0.5 oz Fino Sherry, 0.5 oz Campari, 0.5 oz sweet vermouth, 0.25 oz dry vermouth, and 2 dashes of orange bitters.

- 4
Prepare serving glass
Discard the ice used to chill the serving glass. If using a rocks glass, add the large ice cube or sphere to the glass now.
- 5
Strain
Double-strain the chilled cocktail from the mixing glass into the prepared serving glass (over the large ice cube if using a rocks glass), using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh sieve if desired for extra clarity.
- 6
Garnish and finish
Express the oils of an orange peel over the drink by holding the peel skin-side down above the glass and giving it a sharp twist. Optionally run the peel around the rim, then drop it into the drink as a garnish.
- 7
Serve
Serve immediately. Sip slowly to appreciate the interplay of spicy rye, bitter Campari, nutty dry fino, and the rounded vermouth blend.
