Method
Prepare Fruit
Hull and measure strawberries
If using fresh strawberries, rinse under cold water, remove the green caps, and quarter larger berries. Measure 1.5 cups. If using frozen strawberries, no thawing is required unless your blender struggles — then briefly thaw for 5–10 minutes.
Prepare banana
Peel the banana and slice it into chunks. Measure roughly 1/2 cup of banana pieces (about half a medium banana) to add creaminess and natural sweetness.
Blend Smoothie
Add sweeteners and flavor
Add 1 tablespoon honey (or maple syrup), 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice if using. These enhance sweetness and brightness.
Add ice and optional extras
If using fresh berries or you want a thicker, colder texture, add 1/2 cup ice. Stir in 1 teaspoon chia or ground flaxseed if using for fiber. Do not overfill the blender — leave space for the mixture to circulate.
Blend until smooth
Secure the lid and blend on medium-high for 45–75 seconds, or until the mixture is completely smooth and no large fruit pieces remain. Pause and scrape down the sides with a spatula once, then blend another 10–15 seconds if needed. If the smoothie is too thick, add 1–2 tablespoons of milk and blend briefly; if too thin, add a few more ice cubes or a few frozen strawberry pieces and blend.
Finish & Serve
Taste and adjust sweetness or acidity: add an extra 1/2 tablespoon honey or a few drops of lemon juice if needed, then blend very briefly to incorporate.
Pour into two small glasses or one large glass (see servings). Garnish with a mint leaf if desired and serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
Storage: If not drinking right away, transfer to a sealed container and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Re-stir or re-blend briefly before serving; texture will thicken after sitting.
