Method
Tea selection & brewing
- 1
Choose tea
Select one tea type from Jasmine, Green Tea, Black Tea, Lipton, or Decaf Lemon Ginger. Use one tea bag per 1 cup of finished tea (this recipe uses 4 tea bags for 4 cups).
- 2
Boil water
Bring 4 cups of fresh, cold water to the appropriate temperature for the chosen tea: for Black and Lipton bring to a rolling boil (212°F / 100°C); for Green and Jasmine heat to just below boiling (~175–185°F / 80–85°C) or remove from boil and let sit 1–2 minutes; for Decaf Lemon Ginger use a full boil and then let settle briefly.
- 3
Steep
Place the selected 4 tea bags into a heatproof teapot or large heatproof pitcher. Pour the hot water over the tea bags. Steep for the recommended time: Black/Lipton 3–5 minutes; Green/Jasmine 2–3 minutes; Decaf Lemon Ginger 5–7 minutes. Adjust steep time toward the shorter end for milder tea, longer for stronger flavor.
- 4
Remove bags
After steeping, remove and gently squeeze each tea bag against the side of the pot with a spoon to extract remaining liquid (optional). Discard used tea bags.
Serve & customize
- 5
Portion
Pour the brewed tea into 4 cups (about 1 cup / 240 ml each).
- 6
- 7
Add milk (optional)
For Black or Lipton tea, if desired, add 1 tablespoon of milk or cream per cup. Stir and serve immediately.
- 8
Refills
To provide a refill, reheat additional water to the appropriate temperature and pour over a fresh tea bag (or the same type of tea bag if reusing briefly), steep again according to the tea type. For best flavor, use fresh tea bags for refills; if reusing a bag, shorten steep time by ~30–50%.
