Place the JP Chenet Blanc de Blancs bottle in a chilled ice bath: fill a bucket or large container with the 4 cups of ice and 4 cups of cold water. Submerge the bottle and let it chill for 20–30 minutes until it reaches about 6–8°C (43–46°F). Alternatively, place the bottle in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours prior to serving.

While the bottle chills, ensure 4 champagne flutes are clean, dry, and free of grease or detergent residue (rinse with cold water and drain if needed). Chilling the flutes briefly in the fridge for 10–15 minutes is optional but helps preserve bubbles.

Prepare flutes

When ready to serve, remove the bottle from the ice bath. Keep one hand over the cork while removing the foil and loosen the wire cage (untwist 6 half-turns). Hold the cork at a 45° angle away from yourself and guests. Gently twist the bottle (not the cork) while applying slight upward pressure on the cork until it eases out with a soft pop. Aim to release pressure quietly to preserve bubbles.

Open bottle safely

Tilt each flute at about a 45° angle and pour slowly to protect effervescence. Fill each flute about two-thirds full, then straighten the glass and top off gently to just below the rim, leaving a small head of foam. This should yield roughly 4 servings from one bottle.

Pour champagne

Serve immediately. Keep the remaining bottle in the ice bath or refrigerator to maintain temperature. If the bottle is partially consumed, re-cork with a champagne stopper or place the cork back in and store upright in the refrigerator and consume within 24–48 hours for best effervescence.

Cut 4 thin strips of lemon peel and twist each over a flute to release oils, then drop the twist into the glass or hook on the rim as garnish.

Add lemon twist

Place halved fresh strawberries on a small plate or float one half gently in each flute if desired. Fresh strawberries complement Blanc de Blancs' citrus and floral notes.

Serve with fruit

Arrange 12 small bites such as blinis with crème fraîche and smoked salmon, or goat cheese crostini, on a platter and serve alongside the glasses. Blanc de Blancs pairs well with light seafood and creamy, slightly salty bites.
