Method
Cocktail
Chill the glass (optional)
Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes, or fill it with ice water while you build the cocktail to chill it quickly; discard ice water before serving.
Optional vermouth rinse
If you prefer a very light vermouth presence, pour the optional 0.125 oz (a few drops) of dry vermouth into the chilled glass, swirl to coat the inside, then discard the excess. Otherwise skip this step.
Mix the cocktail
Fill a mixing glass or cocktail shaker with the ice. Add 2 oz vodka, 0.5 oz olive juice (adjust to taste for "dirty" level) and 0.25 oz dry vermouth. Stir (preferred for clarity) or very gently shake for 20–30 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.
Strain and garnish
Double-strain (through the shaker/ mixing glass into the chilled martini glass) to remove ice shards. Thread 2 pitted green olives onto a cocktail pick and place them in the drink as a garnish.
Serve immediately while cold. Taste and, if desired, add a tiny splash more olive juice to increase the "dirty" flavor.
