Cocktail
Muddle cucumber and mint
In a cocktail shaker, place 4 thin cucumber slices and 6 packed mint leaves. Add 0.25 oz simple syrup. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently muddle 6–8 times — press just enough to release cucumber juice and mint aroma without shredding the mint into bits.
Add spirits and citrus
Add 2 oz Hendrick's gin, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz triple sec to the shaker.
Add ice and shake
Add about 1 cup of ice to the shaker. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker is cold and slightly frosted.
Double-strain into glass
Discard ice or water from the chilled glass. Using a fine-mesh strainer and the shaker's built-in strainer, double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glass to remove mint bits and cucumber pulp. If you prefer a slightly more casual presentation, you may single-strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice (0.5 cup).
Garnish and serve
Carefully add a cucumber ribbon or wheel on the rim and a fresh mint sprig. Optionally add a lime wheel or twist. Give the mint sprig a gentle clap between your hands to release aroma before placing it on the cocktail. Serve immediately.
Notes on balance
Adjust sweetness by increasing or decreasing simple syrup by 0.25 oz increments. For a brighter citrus note, use up to 1 oz lime juice and reduce gin by 0.5 oz if desired.
