Method

Preparing Burger Patties

1

Mixing the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Use your hands to mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

2

Forming the Patties

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cooking the Burgers

3

Grilling the Patties

Preheat your grill or skillet to medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned, then flip the patties.

4

Adding Cheese

After flipping, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patties reach your desired doneness.

Assembling the Burgers

5

Toasting the Buns

While the patties are cooking, split the burger buns and toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

6

Building the Burgers

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, layer lettuce, a cooked patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, a few rings of red onion, and pickles. Add ketchup and mustard to taste, then top with the other half of the bun.
