Ingredients for Stella Artois
Method
Brewing Directions
Mashing
Begin by heating 15 cups of water to about 160°F (71°C). Add the Pilsner malt and hold the temperature steady for about 60 minutes to allow the sugars to extract.
Lautering
After mashing, separate the liquid (wort) from the grain. Rinse the grain with additional hot water to extract more sugars.
Boiling
Bring the wort to a boil and add the Saaz hops. Boil for about 60 minutes, then remove from heat.
Cooling
Cool the wort rapidly to about 70°F (21°C) using a wort chiller or an ice bath.
Fermentation
Transfer the cooled wort to a fermentation vessel, and add the lager yeast. Seal with an airlock and let it ferment for 1-2 weeks at a cool temperature (around 50°F or 10°C).
Bottling
Once fermentation is complete, mix the corn sugar with a small amount of water and add it to the beer for carbonation. Bottle the beer and let it condition for another 2 weeks.
Enjoy
Once carbonated, chill your Stella Artois and serve it in a glass. Enjoy your homemade lager!
