Fried Shrimp Po'boy Ingredients

Method

Fried Shrimp Po'boy Directions

1

Prepare the Shrimp

In a mixing bowl, soak the shrimp in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes to tenderize.

2

Mix the Coating

In another bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper.

3

Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

4

Coat the Shrimp

Remove the shrimp from the buttermilk and dredge them in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.

5

Fry the Shrimp

Carefully add the coated shrimp to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

6

Assemble the Po'boys

Slice the baguette or rolls in half. Spread remoulade sauce on both sides, layer with shredded romaine, tomato slices, pickles, and fried shrimp.

7

Serve

Serve immediately with extra remoulade on the side.
