In a large pot, heat 3 liters of purified water to about 160°F (71°C). Add the pale malt and caramel malt, stirring to mix. Maintain the temperature for about 60 minutes.

Mashing

After mashing, sparge the grains with an additional 3 liters of hot water to extract the sugars, collecting the liquid in a brew kettle.

Sparging

Bring the collected wort to a boil. Add Hallertau hops and boil for 60 minutes. Add Saaz hops in the last 15 minutes of the boil.

Boiling

After boiling, cool the wort quickly to about 65°F (18°C) using a wort chiller or an ice bath.

Cooling

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel and pitch the lager yeast. Seal with an airlock and let it ferment for about 2 weeks at 50°F (10°C).

Fermentation

After fermentation, dissolve priming sugar in a small amount of water and add to the beer. Bottle the beer and cap each bottle. Allow to condition at room temperature for 1-2 weeks.

Bottling

After conditioning, chill the bottles in the refrigerator and enjoy your homemade 33 Arces - Life - Lager!
