Garnish & Rim
Method
Prepare Glass
- 1
Rim the glass
Chill a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes. Run a lime wedge around the rim of the chilled glass. On a small plate, mix the powdered sugar and colored sanding sugars (or place them side-by-side to create a segmented rim). Dip the moistened rim into the sugar so it adheres. Set the glass aside to let the rim set.
Make Cocktail
- 2
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice (about 5–6 medium cubes).
- 3
Add 1.5 oz Bombay Sapphire gin, 1 oz Smirnoff Vanilla Vodka, 0.5 oz St. Germain, 0.5 oz Frangelico, 0.75 oz RumChata, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup (if using) to the shaker.
- 4
Cap the shaker and shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds, or until the outside of the shaker becomes frosty and well-chilled. This both chills and slightly dilutes the cream liqueur for a silky texture.
- 5
Double-strain the mixture into the prepared chilled martini/coupe glass to remove ice shards and ensure a smooth drink.
Finish & Serve
- 6
Lightly dust the surface with a pinch of freshly grated nutmeg if desired for aroma and to echo the King Cake spice notes.
- 7
Optional: Thread a small piece of candied citrus peel or a few colored sprinkles on the rim for an additional festive touch.
- 8
Serve immediately. Recommend enjoying as a dessert-style cocktail or celebratory sipper.
