Cocktail

Optional: Rinse / Aromatic Finish

Method

Cocktail

1

Prepare glass (optional rinse)

If using an absinthe/anise rinse, pour 0.25 tsp into a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass, swirl to coat the interior, then discard any excess (or tap out). Set the glass aside chilled.

2

Shake the cocktail

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Add 2 oz bourbon, 1 oz blanc vermouth, 0.5 oz elderflower liqueur, 0.5 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice, 0.25 oz simple syrup, and 2 dashes orange bitters. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted.

3

Strain and garnish

Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass to remove ice shards. Express a lemon twist over the drink to release oils, rub it on the rim if desired, then drop it into the glass as a garnish.

4

Serve immediately. This recipe yields one elegant, balanced cocktail with floral notes from the elderflower and bright citrus, rounded by the bourbon and softened by vermouth.
