Form patties
Divide the ground beef into one 4 oz portion. Gently shape into a patty about 3.5 inches (9 cm) wide and about 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) thick. Avoid overworking the meat to keep the patty tender. Make a shallow dimple in the center with your thumb to reduce puffing while cooking.
Season
Season both sides of the patty evenly with 1/8 tsp black pepper and 1/4 tsp salt just before cooking.
Assemble & Serve
Serve immediately while hot. Recommended accompaniment: a small side of fries or apple slices for a kids' portion. Note: cheese add-on price indicated in menu description (add cheese .50).
