Cocktail Base

Method

Cocktail Base

1

Combine and chill

Add 2 oz gin, 0.5 oz elderflower liqueur, 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice, and 0.5 oz simple syrup into a cocktail shaker.

2

Add small aromatics

Pour in 0.25 oz dry vermouth, add 2 dashes of bitters, and 1 tsp orange blossom water to the shaker.

3

Fill the shaker with ice (enough to nearly fill) and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.

4

Double strain (through the shaker strainer and a fine mesh) into a chilled coupe or a rocks glass over a large ice cube, depending on service preference.

Garnish

5

Express the oils of a lemon twist over the drink by holding the twist over the surface and giving it a quick pinch, then rub it on the rim and drop it into the cocktail.

6

Gently float a single edible flower on top of the cocktail for aroma and presentation. Serve immediately.
