For the Cocktail

Method

Cocktail Preparation

1

Combine ingredients

Add 2 oz London dry gin, 0.5 oz Green Chartreuse, 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.5 oz blanc vermouth, 0.25 oz simple syrup, and 0.5 oz egg white (if using) into a cocktail shaker without ice for a dry shake. This initial shake emulsifies the egg white and creates a silky texture.

2

Dry shake

Vigorously shake the dry ingredients for 10–15 seconds until the mixture becomes frothy and slightly thickened.

3

Wet shake

Add 6 ice cubes to the shaker. Seal and shake hard for 12–18 seconds until the shaker is very cold to the touch and the outside is frosty.

4

Double strain

Strain the cocktail through a fine-mesh strainer (and a Hawthorne or julep strainer if available) into a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass to remove small ice shards and any remaining egg-white solids.

5

Finish & garnish

Express the oils of a fresh lemon twist over the surface of the drink by holding the twist over the glass and pinching to release oils, then run the twist around the rim and drop it into the drink. Optionally float an edible flower or a small sprig of microgreens on the foam for an elegant presentation.

Serving & Notes

6

Serve immediately while the cocktail is cold and the foam is fresh. If you prefer no egg, omit the egg white and increase simple syrup to 0.5 oz to balance texture and mouthfeel.

7

Adjust sweetness or herbaceousness to taste: increase Green Chartreuse by 0.25 oz for a stronger herbal profile, or reduce to 0.25 oz for a drier, brighter cocktail. Use good-quality gin and fresh lemon juice for best results.
