Premium Spirits Selection (for cocktails or tasting flight)
Garnishes & Accompaniments
Optional Cocktail Mixers (if serving as cocktails)
Method
Arrange six small tasting glasses or cordial glasses. Measure and pour 45 ml of each spirit into separate glasses: Appleton Estate Signature Rum, Condesa Gin Clásica, Grey Goose Vodka, Maker's Mark Bourbon, Patrón Silver Tequila, and WhistlePig PiggyBack 6 Year Rye. Label each glass lightly (tape or place beneath).
Serve each spirit neat at the recommended temperature: rum, bourbon and rye slightly below room temperature (15–20°C); gin, vodka, and tequila chilled if preferred. Encourage guests to observe appearance, swirl gently (if appropriate), smell, take a small sip, and let it coat the palate before swallowing. Use water and plain crackers between samples to cleanse the palate.
Garnishes & Accompaniments
Prepare garnishes
Cut orange and lemon twists by using a peeler to take long thin strips of zest without white pith. Place one citrus twist beside each tasting glass according to spirit pairing suggestions: orange with bourbon and rum; lemon with gin and vodka; plain or no garnish with rye and tequila (or a lime wedge for tequila).
Place large ice cubes in a small separate bowl or pitcher for guests who prefer spirits slightly chilled or on the rocks. Provide a carafe of room-temperature water (about 500 ml) and a small plate of plain crackers or bread for palate cleansing between tastings.
Optional Cocktail Mixers (if serving as cocktails)
Make a simple rum daiquiri (Appleton Estate)
In a cocktail shaker, combine 45 ml Appleton Estate Rum, 20 ml fresh lime juice, and 15 ml simple syrup. Add ice, shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds, double-strain into a chilled coupe or rocks glass. Garnish with a lime or orange twist.
Classic gin & tonic (Condesa Gin Clásica)
Fill a highball glass with ice, add 45 ml Condesa Gin Clásica, top with 120–150 ml chilled tonic water or soda water to taste. Stir gently and garnish with a lemon twist.
Vodka on the rocks or martini (Grey Goose)
For a simple serve, pour 45 ml Grey Goose over a large ice cube in a rocks glass and garnish with a lemon twist. For a martini, stir or shake 60 ml vodka with 10 ml dry vermouth over ice, strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a lemon twist.
Old Fashioned (Maker's Mark)
In a mixing glass, add 45 ml Maker's Mark Bourbon, 1–2 dashes Angostura bitters, and 5–10 ml simple syrup. Add ice, stir for 20–30 seconds until chilled and slightly diluted. Strain over a large ice cube in a rocks glass and garnish with an orange twist.
Tequila simple serve (Patrón Silver)
Pour 45 ml Patrón Silver into a rocks glass over a large ice cube and garnish with a lime wedge. Alternatively, make a Paloma by combining 45 ml tequila with 60 ml grapefruit soda and a squeeze of lime over ice, garnish with a lime wedge.
Rye neat or rye cocktail (WhistlePig PiggyBack)
Serve 45 ml WhistlePig PiggyBack Rye neat with an orange twist. To make a quick rye cocktail, stir 45 ml rye, 20 ml simple syrup and 2 dashes Angostura bitters with ice and strain into a chilled glass, garnish with an orange twist.
