Method
Preparation Instructions
Frying the Shrimp
Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Prepare the Shrimp
In a bowl, season the shrimp with salt and pepper. Optionally, you can coat the shrimp in a light batter or breadcrumbs for extra crunch.
Fry the Shrimp
Carefully add the shrimp to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until they turn golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Prepare the Hush Puppies
Follow the instructions on the hush puppies mix packaging to prepare the batter. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
Prepare the Oysters
If you prefer, you can serve the fresh oysters raw on a bed of ice with lemon wedges, or you can lightly fry them in the same oil after the shrimp.
Serving
Arrange the fried shrimp, fresh oysters, and hush puppies on a large platter. Serve with tartar sauce and cocktail sauce on the side.
