Method

Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass in the freezer, or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to cool it.

2

Combine spirits and bitters

In a mixing glass add 2 oz Michter's Unblended Whiskey, 1 oz Vermouth Rosso, 0.5 oz Cynar, and 2 dashes cherry bitters.

3

Add ice and stir

Fill the mixing glass with large, cold ice. Stir gently for 20–30 seconds (about 20–30 revolutions) until well chilled and slightly diluted — the glass should frost at the edges.

4

Add cola topper

Measure 0.5 oz Thums Up Cola and add it to the mixing glass, giving one brief stir (2–3 revolutions) to incorporate without losing carbonation or over-diluting the drink.

5

Strain

Discard ice or water from your chilled serving glass. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass using a Hawthorne and fine mesh strainer to catch any small chips of ice or large bitters solids.

Garnish & Finish

6

Express orange oil over the drink by holding the peel skin-side down about 3–4 inches above the surface and giving it a quick sharp squeeze to spray the oils across the drink, then run the peel around the rim and drop it in.

7

Skewer 1–2 Thums Up Cola cherries on a cocktail pick and rest it across the rim or drop both into the glass, depending on presentation preference.

8

Serve immediately while cold. Suggestion: pair with a light savory snack — the Cynar and cola notes complement salty fried bites.
