Soda Water

Method

Soda Water

1

Chill water

Place the filtered water in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour so it is very cold. Cold water absorbs CO2 more effectively and produces firmer bubbles.

2

Prepare carbonation equipment

If using a home soda maker (CO2 cartridge or tank), ensure the unit is clean and the CO2 cylinder is properly installed and not empty. If using a commercial siphon, fit a fresh CO2 charger. Read the manufacturer's instructions for safety.

3

Carbonate the water

Pour the chilled filtered water into the soda maker bottle up to the indicated fill line. Secure the bottle in the machine per its instructions. Activate the carbonation mechanism in short bursts (2–3 short presses or as the device recommends) to avoid over-foaming. For medium carbonation: apply 2–4 bursts. For high carbonation: apply 5–8 bursts, waiting a few seconds between bursts to let foam settle.

4

Settle and chill

After carbonating, leave the bottle upright for 30–60 seconds to let excess foam settle. If the machine instructions recommend it, gently release any built-up pressure according to the manufacturer’s guidance.

5

Serve

Pour the soda water over ice if desired (4 ice cubes per glass). Optionally garnish with a citrus wedge. Taste and adjust future carbonation levels as needed (increase bursts for stronger fizz, decrease for milder).

6

Storage

Keep unused soda water chilled in a sealed bottle to preserve carbonation. Consume within 24–48 hours for best effervescence; reseal tightly between servings.
