Smoothie Base
Prepare passion fruit
Cut the passion fruits in half and scoop the pulp and seeds into a small bowl. Use a spoon to press the pulp against the shell to release juice; measure to ensure you have the equivalent of about 3 fruits (roughly 1/3 to 1/2 cup pulp).
Measure kefir and lime
Pour 2 cups of cold plain kefir into the blender. Add 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lime juice (about one medium lime) for brightness.
Add sweetener and banana (optional)
Add 1 tablespoon honey or agave. If you want a creamier texture and milder tartness, add 1/2 a ripe banana (peeled and chunked). The banana is optional but recommended if the passion fruit is very tart.
Add passion fruit pulp
Add the measured passion fruit pulp (pulp + seeds) to the blender. The seeds add texture and crunch; if you prefer a seedless finish, strain the pulp through a fine mesh sieve, pressing with a spoon, and discard seeds — keep the juice.
Blend
Secure the blender lid. Blend on medium-high for 20–30 seconds until the mixture is smooth and uniformly colored. If you used seeds and prefer some texture, blend briefly (10–15 seconds) just to combine.
Chill & Serve
Adjust consistency
If the smoothie is too thick, add up to 1/4 cup cold water or additional kefir and pulse to combine. If too thin, add a few more ice cubes or a couple tablespoons of frozen banana and blend until desired thickness is reached.
Add ice (if desired) and final blend
Add 1 cup ice to the blender and pulse 3–5 times until crushed and integrated. For a shaken, frothier version, skip blending ice and instead pour the mixture into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake 10–15 seconds, then strain into glasses over fresh ice.
Taste and adjust
Taste the drink. Add additional honey/agave to sweeten (up to 1 more tablespoon) or another teaspoon of lime juice to brighten if needed. Blend or stir briefly after adjusting.
Garnish and serve
Pour into two chilled glasses (approx. 12–14 oz each). Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon lime zest across the two servings and garnish each with 2 mint leaves. Serve immediately.
