Savori Bites - Cheese Charcuterie Board

Method

Savori Bites - Cheese Charcuterie Board

1

Bring ingredients to temperature

Remove cheeses from refrigerator 30–60 minutes before serving so flavors soften and become more aromatic. Keep cured meats chilled until ready to arrange.

2

Prepare bread and crackers

If using a fresh baguette, preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush baguette slices lightly with 1 tsp olive oil and arrange on a baking sheet. Toast in the oven 6–8 minutes until light golden and crisp. Remove and cool. Arrange crackers ready to place on board.

3

Slice and portion cheeses

Trim rind only if desired. For a balanced board, cut cheeses into a variety of shapes for easy picking: cut hard cheese (manchego/gouda) into 1/4-inch slices or small triangles; slice aged cheddar into bite-size cubes or thin wedges; leave brie whole but score top and provide a small cheese knife or cut into wedges. Portion roughly 1–2 ounce servings per cheese type so guests can sample.

4

Arrange cured meats

Fold prosciutto into loose ribbons or rolls and place in small piles. Fan salami and soppressata slices or roll them into cones to create height and easy grab-and-go portions. Distribute meat groups around the board to balance visual weight and pair with nearby cheeses.

5

Place condiments and small items

Spoon 2 tbs honey into a small bowl or drizzle over a piece of honeycomb and place on the board. Place 2 tbs fig jam or preserves in a separate small bowl with a spreader. Fill small bowls with olives and cornichons (about 1/4 cup each) and set near complementary cheeses (e.g., brie with jam, cheddar with pickles).

6

Add fruits, nuts and dried fruit

Cluster grapes in small bunches and tuck them near soft cheeses. Fan apple slices and brush with a little lemon juice if not serving immediately to prevent browning. Scatter dried apricots and figs and a small pile of mixed nuts in gaps to add texture and color.

7

Garnish and finish

Tuck rosemary or thyme sprigs around the board for fragrance and visual appeal. Sprinkle a pinch (about 1 tsp) of cracked black pepper over the exposed cut face of the soft cheese (brie) to enhance flavor. Make sure there are cheese knives/spreaders available for each cheese type and small tongs or toothpicks for the meats and pickles.

8

Serve

Place the finished board on a flat surface with small plates, napkins and spreaders. Encourage guests to take a variety of items with each bite — cheese, a meat slice, a fruit or jam and a cracker. Refresh items as needed during the event.
