Cocktail Preparation
- 1
Chill glass
Place a coupe or chilled old-fashioned glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice and cold water while you prepare the cocktail to ensure the drink stays cold.
- 2
Combine ingredients
In a mixing glass, add 2 oz blended Scotch, 0.75 oz dry vermouth, 0.25 oz sweet vermouth, 0.25 oz Yellow Chartreuse, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters.
- 3
Stir with ice
Fill the mixing glass with large, cold ice. Stir gently and steadily for 20–30 seconds (about 15–20 full turns) until the mixture is well chilled, slightly diluted, and silky—do not shake.
- 4
Prepare glass
If you chilled the serving glass with ice and water, dump it now. If using a coupe, ensure it is cold and dry before straining.

- 6
Strain and garnish
Double-strain the stirred cocktail into the chilled coupe or an old-fashioned glass over one large ice cube (if you prefer it on the rocks). Garnish with the expressed lemon peel and optionally drop in a maraschino cherry or thread it on a pick.
- 7
Serve
Serve immediately. Sip slowly to appreciate the balance of mellow Scotch, herbal yellow Chartreuse, and the vermouths.
