Method
Cocktail
- 1
Prepare shaker
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. This chills the shaker so ingredients mix and dilute properly.
- 2
Add spirits and juices
Pour into the shaker: 2 oz dark rum, 1 oz light rum, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.25 oz fresh lemon juice, 1 oz passion fruit syrup (or puree + simple), and 1 oz fresh orange juice.
- 3
Sweeten and finish
Add 0.5 oz grenadine, 0.25 oz simple syrup (if you prefer a sweeter drink), and 2 dashes Angostura bitters to the shaker.
- 4
Shake
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold and slightly frosted. The shaking chills, aerates, and properly integrates the dense passion fruit syrup and juices.
- 5
Prepare glass
Fill a tall Hurricane glass (or large Collins) about three-quarters full with crushed ice.
- 6
Strain and layer
Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared glass over the crushed ice to remove any pulp. Pour slowly so the drink sits nicely over the crushed ice.

- 8
Garnish
Garnish with an orange wheel and a maraschino cherry on a pick. Slap a mint sprig between hands and tuck it beside the fruit for aroma if desired.
