Method
Thick Toast
Prep bread
Bring bread to room temperature if refrigerated. Pat two slices lightly with a clean kitchen towel to remove any excess moisture.
Butter the bread
Spread about 1/2 tablespoon unsalted butter evenly on one side of each slice (both slices if you prefer buttery top and bottom). This helps crisp and brown the exterior.
Toast
Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add remaining butter and let it foam and melt, tilting pan to coat. Place slices butter-side down and cook 2–3 minutes until golden brown and crisp. Flip and cook the other side another 1–2 minutes until golden and the center is warm but not soggy. Alternatively, bake at 200°C (400°F) for 6–8 minutes, flipping once, until both sides are golden.
Toppings - Spread & Drizzle
Warm peanut butter
Place creamy peanut butter in a small microwave-safe bowl and heat 10–15 seconds to loosen (or stir vigorously). This makes it easier to spread evenly without tearing the toast.
Spread peanut butter
Immediately after toasting, spread about 1 to 1.5 tablespoons of peanut butter on each slice while bread is still warm so the peanut butter softens and melds with the toast.
Drizzle condensed milk
Using a spoon, drizzle about 1 tablespoon of sweetened condensed milk over each peanut-buttered slice in a thin, even ribbon. For a sweeter finish, add a half-tablespoon more or use honey mixed with condensed milk.
Finish & Garnish
Add chopped peanuts
Scatter roughly 1/2 tablespoon chopped roasted peanuts over each slice to provide crunch and a nut-forward contrast to the smooth peanut butter and sweet condensed milk.
Season
Sprinkle a light pinch (about 1/4 teaspoon per slice) of flaky sea salt over the top to balance the sweetness. If using cinnamon, dust each slice with a light 1/4 teaspoon sprinkle for warmth.
Serve
Cut each slice in half or quarters if desired. Serve immediately while toast is warm and peanut butter slightly melty. Leftovers can be kept briefly (1–2 hours) but are best fresh.
