Choose style

If serving white or rosé, place the bottle in an ice bucket or pour over a glass with a few ice cubes if appropriate for quick chilling. Let chill 10–15 minutes in ice or 30–45 minutes in refrigerator for optimal temperature (white 45–55°F / 7–13°C; rosé 50–55°F / 10–13°C).

Use a corkscrew to remove the cork cleanly. Wipe the bottle lip with a clean napkin. For screw-cap bottles, remove the cap and wipe the lip.

Open the bottle

Pour red wine to the widest part of the glass (about 4–5 oz / 120–150 ml) to allow aeration. Pour white and rosé to about 5 oz / 120–150 ml, leaving room to swirl. Hold the glass by the stem to avoid warming the wine.

Pouring guidance

Smell and taste a small sip. If wine is too warm, briefly chill the glass in an ice bucket. If a red seems closed, allow it 10–15 minutes to breathe in the glass or decant if available.

Taste and adjust

On a small board or plate, arrange the charcuterie bites and cheese selection into bite-sized pieces. Space items so guests can pick easily.
