Mussels

Method

Preparation of Mussels

1

Clean the Mussels

Rinse the mussels under cold running water to remove any sand or debris. Scrub the shells with a brush to clean thoroughly. Discard any mussels that are open and do not close when tapped.

Cooking Instructions

2

Sauté Garlic

In a large pot, heat the extra virgin olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

3

Add Mussels

Add the cleaned mussels to the pot and stir to coat them with the garlic and oil.

4

Incorporate Wine and Seasoning

Pour in the dry white wine and season with salt and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

5

Steam the Mussels

Cover the pot with a lid and let the mussels steam for about 5-7 minutes, or until they have opened up. Discard any mussels that remain closed.

6

Finish with Lemon and Parsley

Remove the pot from heat. Drizzle the fresh lemon juice over the mussels and sprinkle with chopped parsley. Give it a gentle stir to combine.

Serving

7

Serve

Transfer the mussels into a serving bowl and pour the broth from the pot over them. Serve immediately with crusty gluten-free bread or over gluten-free pasta, if desired.
