Dessert Base

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.

2

Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

3

Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and blue food coloring until well combined.

4

Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.

5

Bake the Cakes

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

6

Cool the Cakes

Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Blueberry Frosting

7

Prepare Blueberry Puree

In a blender, puree the fresh blueberries until smooth. Strain the puree through a fine mesh sieve to remove seeds and skins.

8

Make the Frosting

In a large bowl, beat the unsalted butter and cream cheese together until creamy and smooth. Gradually add in the powdered sugar and blueberry puree, mixing until well combined and fluffy.

9

Add Lemon Juice

Mix in the lemon juice to enhance the flavor of the frosting.

Assembly and Garnish

10

Frost the Cakes

Once the cake layers are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a generous amount of blueberry frosting on top, then place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides.

11

Add Garnish

Top the cake with fresh blueberries and sprinkle edible glitter on top for a magical touch, if desired.

12

Serve

Slice the cake and serve to enjoy the delightful flavor and vibrant color of the Violet Beauregard dessert.
