Preparation Steps

1

Prepare the Dough

In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, yogurt, and ghee. Mix to form a soft dough.

2

Knead the Dough

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

3

Shape the Naan

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten it into an oval or teardrop shape. Brush the top with a little ghee and sprinkle with nigella seeds.

4

Cook the Naan

Preheat a tandoor or a heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Place the naan on the hot surface and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until it is puffed and golden brown. If using a tandoor, stick the naan to the side of the oven.

5

Serve

Remove the naan from the heat and brush with additional ghee before serving. Enjoy warm!
