Preparation Steps

1

Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.

2

Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yogurt, olive oil, and the activated yeast mixture.

3

Knead Dough

Mix the ingredients until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4

First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

5

Shape Naan

Preheat a skillet or tandoor over medium-high heat. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into small balls. Roll each ball into an oval or round shape about 1/4 inch thick.

6

Cook Naan

Place the rolled naan on the hot skillet. Cook for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through, puffing up as it cooks.

7

Serve

Remove from the skillet and brush with melted butter or ghee if desired. Serve warm.
