Place the Prosecco bottle in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours prior to serving. If short on time, fill the ice bucket with ice and cold water, submerge the bottle, and chill for 20–30 minutes until the bottle feels very cold to the touch (around 6–8°C).

Chill the bottle

Select clean champagne flutes or chilled white wine glasses. Rinse them with cold water and drain briefly to remove any dust and slightly cool the glass. Do not dry aggressively; a little moisture helps maintain chill.

Prepare glassware

With the bottle upright on a towel, use a foil cutter or small knife to remove the foil from the bottle neck. Loosen the wire cage by turning the tab six half-turns but keep the cage on while you steady the cork.

Hold the bottle at a 45° angle pointing away from people and valuables. Grip the cork with a towel. Keep a firm hold on the cork, twist the bottle (not the cork) slowly and gently until the cork eases out with a soft sigh — avoid a loud pop to preserve bubbles and avoid spillage.

Open the bottle safely

Pour Prosecco into each flute by tilting the glass and aiming for the inner side to preserve effervescence. Fill each glass about two-thirds full (100–125 ml per serving) to allow the aroma to develop and bubbles to show nicely.

Pour correctly

If desired, add a lemon or orange twist to the rim or drop a small twist into each glass for a bright aromatic note. Place the bottle in the chilled ice bucket to maintain temperature while serving.

Garnish and present

Recork any remaining Prosecco with a sparkling wine stopper and return to the ice bucket or refrigerator. Consume within 1–3 days for best bubble retention and flavor. Avoid leaving open at room temperature for long periods.
