Cocktail

1

Build the cocktail

Add 1.5 oz Montelobos mezcal and 0.5 oz Corazón Blanco tequila into a mixing glass or stirring glass.

2

Add sweetener and bitters

Add 0.25 oz agave syrup, 2 dashes Angostura bitters, and 1 dash orange bitters to the mixing glass.

3

Stir with ice

Fill the mixing glass with large ice (enough to chill without over-diluting). Stir briskly for 20–30 seconds until the outside of the glass feels very cold and the liquid is slightly diluted (about 15–20% dilution).

4

Prepare glass

Place a single large ice cube into an Old Fashioned glass (rocks glass).

5

Strain

Double-strain or fine-strain the chilled cocktail from the mixing glass into the prepared Old Fashioned glass over the large ice cube to remove any small ice chips or solids.

6

Express and garnish

Take an orange twist and express the oils over the surface of the drink by holding it over the glass skin-side down and giving it a firm squeeze; rub the peel along the rim and drop it into the drink. If using a smoked or flamed peel, flame briefly (carefully) or pass the peel over a smoking element before expressing for an aromatic touch.

7

Serve immediately. Optionally provide a short stirrer so the guest can re-integrate flavor as the ice melts.
