Preparation

1

Salt the rim (optional)

Run the cut edge of the fresh lime wedge around the rim of a chilled rocks or coupe glass. Pour the coarse sea salt onto a small plate and gently press the moistened rim into the salt to coat. Set the glass aside.

2

Measure and combine

In a cocktail shaker add 2 oz Clase Azul Plata tequila, 0.5 oz Louis Alexandre Grand Marnier, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz agave syrup (if you prefer a slightly sweeter, rounder profile).

3

Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup) then secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, or until the shaker is well-chilled and slightly frosty on the outside.

4

Strain and serve

Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared glass over fresh ice (for a rocks presentation) or without ice into the chilled coupe if you prefer it neat. Use a fine mesh strainer along with the shaker strainer to remove any fine ice shards and pulp from the lime.

5

Garnish and finish

Express the oils from the thin orange peel by holding it over the drink and giving it a quick twist, then rub the peel on the glass rim if you like an orange aroma. Add a lime wheel or twist on the rim. Optionally drop the lime wedge into the drink for extra aroma and a visual accent.

6

Serve immediately and enjoy. Adjust sweetness by varying the agave syrup from 0 to 0.5 oz to taste.
